In all my recent mom talk posts, I give a little bit of insight into what’s going on with me lately, but not a lot. I haven’t really talked a lot about me as a person but more me as a mom.
I thought today I’d share a little about me lately!
Fitness: I wrote last Monday about my intentions to get back into fitness by working out three times per week with a workout DVD or a walk. Well, my mom came into town last Sunday and didn’t leave until Friday, so I spent all my free and available time chatting with her. Between trying to head out and do something with her a few times and chatting, I only got one long walk in, because we did it together.
This week I’m making it a priority to do it during a nap time. I have enough workout DVDs…
Food: This week’s grocery list included a couple of new dinner recipes and lunch ideas. Lunch has been the biggest pain for me during maternity leave, as it is at each school break and during the summer. I can never figure out what to buy at the grocery store and then when it comes time to actually make something at home, it just seems easier to run out and get something.
Books: I like to read on my kindle, and after loving Big Little Lies a few weeks ago, I went to my library’s ebook checkout website and put holds on a bunch of books from my Goodreads. I got notice last Monday that The Husband’s Secret was available for me, and then Friday I got notice that I could check out Me Before You. I asked on my Facebook page which I should start with, and after I got some feedback went to login and claim them and found that I had lost the ability to check out The Husband’s Secret because I had waited too long. So, easy decision for me! I’m going to start Me Before You.
TV: I’m not a big tv person, but when I get hooked on a series I like to binge watch when I have the time. I didn’t think I’d get into it, but I started watching Fuller House and enjoyed the throwback. Though I watched a couple of episodes and decided they were just okay, I ended up finishing the whole season in a week’s time. If you were a Full House fan back in the day you’ll enjoy that the characters have now evolved into the different stages of life that we now find ourselves in.
I also plan to start watching Friday Night Lights after reading Elements of Style’s post about the shows she’s binging. I loved Parenthood, and a commenter compared the two. I hope I’m not disappointed.
Oh, and of course I’m catching the season finale of the Bachelor tonight. I already read all the spoilers so think I know who won. I’m not sure how I feel about it. I’m not even really sure how I felt about this season in general; it seemed a little boring to me.
Life: I got out alone this weekend and got a manicure and a pedicure. I have gotten one pedicure since Olivia was born in December, and my fingernails had been looking atrocious. I enjoyed treating myself to some alone time and some pampering, and I’m pleased and surprised that something as small as having pretty nails can make me feel so good.
As of today I’ve got three weeks until I go back to work, and I’m truly nervous for how hard it is going to be for me. I’m going to be soaking up all my time with Olivia over the course of the next three weeks, and I’m looking forward to getting in a few more outings and meet-ups with friends.
I hope this Monday starts you off on the right track for a great week!
