As far as working out, and really life in general, is concerned, this week was a complete blur. I think I’ve said it a few times before, but I truly don’t feel like last Sunday was just 7 days ago. On weeks where there is a lot of life to live in addition to workouts to get done, it’s hard to pack it all in. I had promised myself that I would get another post or two up aside from my weekly recap, but there were no days that I was home early enough (and with enough energy left) to write a post. I know I really need to start writing posts in bulk and scheduling them. It’s just not something that I’ve mastered at this point.
That said, my graph is a little empty for the week, but I still accomplished enough to say that I don’t find it to be a complete disappointment. For starters, I had two days this week where I did double workouts! On Tuesday I worked out before work and after work, and on Wednesday I got in a full run workout in addition to a full pool workout. After that day I understood the value of morning workouts. I didn’t get home until after 7:30! And additionally, I ran ZOOMA Florida half marathon on Sunday and set a new PR! The doubles and the PR are enough to make me proud of myself for what I did get in amidst a hectic schedule.
Here are my workouts:
AM: 1 hour on the bike trainer
PM: 5 mile tempo run with 3 at around 8:40 pace
Workout 1: Easy 5 mile run at around 9:30 pace
Workout 2: 2000 yards straight swim. I was happy with averaging 1:25/100 yards on a straight swim like this. I was taking it really easy and am pleased that continuing to dedicate time to getting to the pool is increasing my speed and endurance.
Planned off day pre-ZOOMA
Accidental rest day. I hadn’t packed the night before and got up early to pack. I was supposed to run 2 shakeout, but I didn’t. In this case the idea of putting on running clothes, the post-run shower, and all the hoopla just didn’t seem worth it for two miles. I wasn’t planning anything serious for the race, so I wasn’t worried about missing it. I thought I’d maybe run when I got to Amelia Island, but after a 4 hour drive turned into a 6 hour drive, that idea shot right out of my head too.
ZOOMA half marathon! I ran with Presley, and we had a fun time running and chatting. When I started realizing that I was feeling good at a slightly faster than planned pace, I went ahead and locked it in to go for a PR. I negative split the race and finished with my last mile as my fastest mile. I scored a 42 second PR of 1:55:10! I guess you can’t complain about an unplanned PR. It tells me that my training is going well! And the race was a heck of a lot of fun!
I got up to watch Beth and my coach Steve swim a 5k across Tampa Bay, and I remembered on my drive down that I had left my running shoes in the car. I was in luck! I was able to peer pressure Tori into joining me on a 3 mile super slow run. It’s the slowest I’ve run in a while, and it was enjoyable!
Biking took a back seat this week, and tomorrow won’t be my normal rest day. I’m pushing off a bike ride from today to tomorrow. I think I had enough rest days this week. I’ll be alright without one this coming week!
Swim: 2000 yards
Bike: 17 miles
Run: 26.1 miles
How was your week? Do you do doubles to fit more in?
