When I was doing my pre-race over analyzing in preparation for Rev3 Florida, I noticed a blog post announcing applications for Team Rev3. I read through it and immediately began applying; the opportunity sounded like something I wanted to be a part of. I’ve followed members of the team on twitter for a while now, and I’ve read a few of their blogs for a long time; I was already pretty sure I was going to love everything about the race judging from what I’d heard (which turned out to be true). I knew I wanted to be a part of such a close knit group for a really well-run race series who puts the athlete and their family first, so I submitted my application expecting little, crossed my fingers, and waited.
|I may have mentioned this moment once or twice?|
After a phone call a few weeks ago with one of the team’s managers discussing my experience and questions and letting me know I’d made it through the first round of cuts, there was more waiting (notice a trend?). This week, Rev3 (finally!) began posting announcements to Facebook, and today my photo showed up announcing my spot on the team!
|Woohoo! That’s me!|
I’ve already had the opportunity to read introductions from standing members of the team, and the only thing I can say is that they are incredibly impressive. From their experiences in the sport of triathlon to their personal and professional lives, I cannot wait to meet them, get to know them, and learn from them all they have to share about this sport I’ve fallen hard for quickly.
Aside from the team and a group of like minded people, it also means I’m going to get to race a bunch of Rev3 races in 2014! I’m in the process of determining which ones…
The ones that are making my short list include Knoxville, Williamsburg, West Virginia, and then obviously Florida again. This year there was one in October in South Carolina that I’m thinking of going to cheer and volunteer at when they announce the new date, and then there’s an announcement coming about a race in Mexico that might be interesting too. The choices are so exciting! I probably won’t do the 70.3 at all of the venues, but I’ll make that decision later.
If I weren’t doing Chattanooga in September I’d not miss out on Cedar Point and Maine, as I’ve heard both of those are unique experiences because of the venues. But they just don’t work out with my calendar.
For now, I’ll probably stop planning until after I run Jacksonville Bank in December. Then when the New Year comes around I’ll start firming up my 2014 calendar more.
One more thing? I wouldn’t be telling the whole truth if I didn’t say that I’m also super excited to race in a Pearl Izumi Team Rev3 tri kit! I don’t know if they’ll be the same in 2014 as they have been in the past, but this is a peek at one I’ve seen in a lot of the team’s recaps (I think it’s from two years ago).

Now who’s coming with me to a Rev3 race next year?
