This week in a few words: This week was awesome. I missed a bike but got in a swim! That’s one more swim than last week. I also added mileage to my long Sunday ride and feel like that made up for some of the time lost in the saddle by missing Thursday.
I had to shift some stuff around so my schedule was a little wonky, but it happens. For some reason, even though this wasn’t my highest time or distance mileage week lately, this was the first week where I really felt my time focused more on triathlon training. If I had gotten in that bike ride from Thursday (when we went out to dinner with Tim’s mom), I would have been over 10 hours for the week. That means this weekend was more packed than normal. I’m tired, and unlike last week, I don’t have Monday off this time.
Weeks like this one and the last one or two make me feel so much confidence in my abilities. It makes me so sure that I’m going to be able to cross that finish line happily on November 10th after moving 70.3 miles. It makes me think of what else is possible.
Here is more about my workouts:
Monday: !!OFF!! Like I say every week, I didn’t know it was possible to be this excited every time Monday comes around. That includes tomorrow. Woohoo!! Give me rest!!! (I’m not even sorry for the exclamation mark overload).
Tuesday: 1:20 on the trainer with hill repeats. I did 6 x 5 minutes of hills with high resistance and 3 minutes of active recovery in between. I rode a warmup and cool down to meet the time.
Wednesday: Met Beth to swim and swam 2500 yards! Yay me for getting back to the pool. I need to do it more often. I really don’t have an excuse now that the swim team leaves their lane lines in our neighborhood pool during the week. I moved my run to Thursday because I had to be at school until later this night.
Thursday: 40 minutes with 10 warmup, 10 x 1 minute speed intervals with 1 minute of active recovery in between each. I ran at 7:04 pace for the 10 rounds of speed. I was happy with this run and averaged 8:41 for the 4.6 miles that I covered. Then we went to dinner!
Friday: I sat on the couch after work and waited on the lightning to stop. Had I continued waiting I wouldn’t have gotten the run in, so finally at 6 PM I decided it was time to hit the treadmill. I ran 55 minutes and listened to a new podcast. I ran at 9:35 pace…
Saturday: I ran solo, but I didn’t want to run around the neighborhood anymore because I was bored. I headed over to the UTBT and covered 11 miles at 9:35 pace.
Sunday: It was cool and nice out, and with the right mix of winds, Tori and I got in 60 miles at 16.9 MPH. When we hit 50 miles we were 10 minutes faster than we were last Sunday. Major improvement in a week? I’ll take it!
Swim: :45 of swimming; 2,500 yards
Bike: 4:53 of biking, 82 miles
Run: 3:20 of running, 21.33 miles
