I didn’t get my workouts posted yesterday because I started getting sick on Saturday and just haven’t felt like posting since then. I’m feeling yucky still and am back at school to teach a summer type course for the week, so I’m just hoping it’s still enough resting to recover quickly. I’m stuffing down Advil, because it makes me feel better, though it probably doesn’t aid in my actual cold in any way. I’ve got no time in my schedule for being sick.
I know we all go through funks where we’re not in the mood to post, and this past week has been that funk for me. I’ve had stuff to post about, but I just haven’t felt like sitting down and writing it out. Usually writing is a therapy for me and I enjoy sitting down and doing it, but last week it became something I was procrastinating to do (and ultimately didn’t get done). The same was true for reading blogs. I love reading blogs and have so many that I subscribe to. I oftentimes feel like the blogs I read are written by real life friends because I get so excited and entwined in everything going on. Last week I just couldn’t sit down to focus. I’d get on the computer and space out, check Facebook aimlessly, tweet a little bit, and stare blankly at my computer before going on to do something else. I don’t know why we go through these funks, but I’m hoping I get over it soon. I need to catch up with you all!
My bike trainer came to me on Friday, but I haven’t gotten a chance to test it out yet. I set it up and rode it to test it for a couple of minutes, but I did all my biking outside this weekend, which was nice. That being said, I’ve got an hour and fifteen minutes planned on it for tomorrow. I just need to save some tv shows for that ride. I’ve heard the trainer gets boring. I’m excited for it’s easy accessibility though.
And because I’m not feeling well and my creativity is lacking, I’m just going to share my workouts from last week. It was a great week and it is making for a much appreciated rest day today. I’m going to finally share my big exciting race news this week. There has been a lot of inspiration circling around the blogging and Instagram world, and I’m using it to fuel my big plunge.
Monday is always my rest day, which I appreciate after killer weekends.
Tuesday I took my bike to the trail and rode for 35 minutes before it started raining and I became a chicken who thought I’d slip on the rain since I hadn’t been out in if before. Then I came home and rode the stationary bike (since I didn’t have my trainer). I got in an hour and ten minutes total.
Wednesday I swam 2000 yards in the pool and then ran for 35 minutes and covered 3.87 on the treadmill.
Thursday I met Beth for a ride out at Clearwater Beach. It was wonderful. We hit 20 miles before 7:15 am.
Friday I talked myself out of swimming and ran 4 miles outside at 6 PM. It wasn’t my smartest run, but it felt pretty good!
Saturday I met up with Tori and we rode 33 miles and ran a 15 minute transition run. My legs wouldn’t spin on Saturday, so we averaged a little slower than we have most weekends in the past. About 25 miles into it I finally started feeling normal again, but at that point it was too little too late.
Sunday I ran just under 6 miles at Clearwater Beach alone before meeting up with Tori and Team Psych for an open water swim in the Gulf. They set up buoys and we could do as many laps as we wanted between the buoys. The water was the choppiest I’ve seen it ever, and I just felt like I was being sloshed around. I got in a mile before my motion sickness told me to get out.
Somehow even after working out for quite a bit of time over the weekend I still don’t feel like I did that much relative to the numbers I’ll be seeing in a few weeks.
