Sometimes I sit down to write these posts and can’t even remember doing the workouts I completed earlier in the week. With this much time spent training, the miles and hours start to blend together. This week I hit a huge milestone! I swam, biked, and ran my way to over 100 miles…105 miles to be exact! And it’ll slowly build from here. These big weeks of training build my confidence for my big race on November 10th. Oh, and I did it. I signed up!
That makes it even more real and makes me feel the need to stick to my training even more. And just to prove that I’m trying to continue playing it smart with running, I found my weekly mileage chart from the last 9 weeks since getting clearance to run from my stress fracture.
I’m pleased with my commitment to building slowly but surely. Consistency and trust has been the name of the gain.
My workouts this week are as follows:
Tuesday: An hour and ten minutes on the trainer with 9 short 1 minute hill intervals with 1 minute active recovery inbetween. I hopped off the trainer after that one and headed over to the blogger meetup.
Wednesday: 4 mile run. The last mile was at 8:48, and it felt good to build up speed as the run continued. Running in Florida in the summer is like running on the sun, so being able to train in it prepares me well for cooler fall races.
Thursday: Another trainer ride, but this one was longer and just about time in the saddle. I rode for 1:15.
Friday: I got up and out the door before heading to work for the first time! I got in 5.71 miles in my allotted 55 minute window.
Saturday: I met up with a group at the Suncoast Parkway and rode 41.5 miles before running 3.1 miles. I definitely didn’t intend to run that far afterwards, but I felt good and wanted the practice running in the heat to get ready for my longer triathlon next weekend. Then I met up with Beth and we swam 2,050 yards. Swimming was definitely my missing leg this week.
Sunday: To round out the week, I ran 8 miles. I’m working on building my Sunday long runs so that I can start marathon training in the middle of half Ironman training. I’ve got my eye on the Jacksonville Bank Marathon at the end of December.
