Best week yet! And possible ever! I didn’t take a rest day this week. I just powered through and loved every second of it. I hit most of my goals that I set for the week, though a child used the bathroom in the neighborhood pool Friday, so they closed the pool until Saturday morning. I was going to swim Saturday morning, but something about that just didn’t seem too appealing.
I’m definitely tired after a full week, but with no school it gave me plenty of time to get the work in. I’m loving it right now! Not being on a training plan but keeping a solid fitness base is making me so happy! I’ll be back to running a little in two and a half weeks, and I look forward to seeing how all of this base has prepared me for that transition.
Here’s what I did this week:
Monday: I did 3000 yards in the pool, and it was probably the best swim workout I’ve done so far…I made it up for myself the night before instead of when I was swimming, and I think it helped a lot. I wrote two ladders, and it was nice to know what I was going to do next as I was doing it. I typed it all out in DailyMile, so here’s that.
Tuesday: I did my upper body weights set, but I upped it to three rounds with 12 reps per round. I also walked two miles on the treadmill varying the incline at 4.3. I was a sweaty mess by the end of this one.
Wednesday: I walked a mile to the open water swim start then I swam an open water mile down at St. Pete Beach. It felt awesome to just swim swim swim without thinking about counting laps!
Thursday: I walked 1.62 miles and did the same upper body weights.
Friday: I rode 11.86 miles on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail. Storms were blowing in and it was windy, but I did the ride in the morning to make sure that I fit it in before the storms actually got here. It was difficult being so windy, but I did it alone and without music or a podcast. I just enjoyed pushing and thinking on this one.

Saturday: It was the day I was going to swim again, but like I mentioned above, the pool wasn’t clean. I wasn’t willing to jump into it. I walked 1.66 miles and did the same weights. I’m ready for a change up after doing the same stuff. I’m joining in on a challenge from The Fitnessista that starts tomorrow.
Sunday: I met Beth and her boyfriend and some of his friends for a ride at the Suncoast Parkway. Tori did her first triathlon of the season so didn’t meet us up there. We rode in a line for the first 10 miles or so, and we kept a nice clip. Then the guys broke off saying they were going to be riding 21-23 mph with speed drills, so Beth and I decided to hold back. We did end up riding at a pretty nice pace, though. The first 23 or so miles of our ride ended up averaging 18 mph.
It was such a great week, and looking back on it makes me happy. I wish I had fit in one more bike and swim and maybe taken away one of the weights days, but I’ll continue to improve from here! How were your workouts this week?! Linkup with me and Kat!
