This weekend was one of those weekends where you need a day or two to recover before going back to work. I’ve seen multiple Facebook posts about switching around national holidays so that the day after the Super Bowl is also one, and I’m on board. I literally didn’t feel like I sat down all weekend, though I won’t complain about a single part of it. I crammed a lot of fun stuff into three great days!
Friday afternoon I needed to pick up the diaper cake that Lauren was making for the baby shower I was hosting on Saturday, so we decided to meetup for happy hour at Grillsmith. It was nice to catch up with Lauren and hear about her new endeavors with running. She started Couch to 5k a few weeks ago and is running her first 5k at Gasparilla.

I felt so accomplished on Friday because before I met up with her I ran to Target and Michael’s to pick up the last few things I needed for the shower decorations. After the happy hour I made my way over to Safety Harbor to pick up my bib for the Best Damn Race 10k that I was running on Saturday. And after that, as though all of that wasn’t enough to have a successful day after work, I picked up pizza for dinner, headed home, and made decorations all night! Someone call me Martha Stewart, because I’m going to be your next crafting queen after the things I put together this weekend!

Saturday morning was a ton of fun at the Best Damn Race 10k. I’m going to write a whole recap this week, but (spoiler alert!) I PR’ed the 10k by a little over 2 minutes. I was pleased, as I haven’t been doing any speed work and am just coming back to being really with it since the marathon. I’m excited about what this means for future racing potential.

Afterwards I was sad I didn’t get to stick around and see all of my running and blogging friends finish, but I had a baby shower to setup for and needed to head home to clean up and head over.
The baby shower on Saturday was a lot of fun. I didn’t realize how much time, energy, and funds went into planning a baby shower, but I enjoyed it and will definitely know how to prepared ahead for next time! The mom to be is one of my friends at work and was one of my bridesmaids, and she loved her shower, so I consider it a success. I’m going to share more about it this week also, as I thought it might be helpful for people who are in my same stage of life where friends are starting to have weddings, babies, and showers.

And lastly, though this marathon of a weekend could have stopped several activities ago, Tim and I headed to a Super Bowl party last night. There was a fun group there, but after Beyonce (who I thought was fabulous by the way)I just wanted to head home to bed. Tim insisted on staying the whole time because of the Super Bowl squares game we had going on. Luckily he was ready to go as soon as the game was over. Still, it was a late night! I need another day to recover from all the fun! It’ll be early to bed for me tonight. Oh, and no super bowl gambling wins for me. Another day!

What was your highlight of the weekend?
Do you have a lot of friends getting married or having babies?
