Every week when I sit down to write this recap post, it amazes me how quickly the week has gone by. Sometimes the runs feel long, but at the end of the week I feel like I was just here doing this whole recap thing yesterday. I guess it’s like the saying, “the days are long, but the years are short.” That’s definitely true a lot.
This week was an amazing week for me for so many reasons. I only took two rest days, I got in cross training, I did speed work, and I ran twenty miles! Someone pinch me. It just doesn’t feel real; I can’t believe that I actually ran twenty miles this morning. But I assure you, my watch, my toes, and my hips are all willing to attest to the fact that I did indeed.
Monday was a 50 minute stationary bike ride while I got in an episode of Downton Abbey. I’ll again tell you that if you’re not watching it you have to start. Over the course of the weekend I’ve watched almost the entire second season.
Tuesday was a 5 mile fartlek run.
Wednesday was my attempt at both a pace run and getting some semi hill work. I alternated the treadmill between 1.0 and 2.0 incline, and I can tell you that 2.0 is definitely not easy, but 1.0 isn’t supposed to be considered a hill. I’ve now learned that if you run on the treadmill, you must run at at least a 1.0 incline to consider it at all similar to outside running.
Thursday I had responsibilities at work until pretty late, so I pushed that run until Friday, when I did more 2.0 and 1.0 running on the treadmill at a slower pace. This week I heard the treadmill calling my name a lot, so I responded.
Then there is Sunday. I ran 20 miles. Did I mention that? To say that I am proud would be an understatement. I’m also proud of my splits:
