I think I’ve finally started placing the races on my Fall racing schedule. I’m lucky to live in an area that has a lot of local races but also draws some bigger races, and while it’s nice to have so much to choose from, it’s also overwhelming and difficult to decide. In the end, I have no goal races for the fall, as I’m focusing all of my attention on the 20th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon on January 13th, 2013.
But, here’s what I’m definitely doing (plus a few that are still being decided on for various reasons):
October 6th: HCSO Ranch Run 15k. Excuse me for plugging my recap on this one, but I was proud of myself for racing less than 2 months after the myomectomy I had on August 7th. It was a hilly race, and I signed up at the last minute.
October 14th (Possibility): Pretty in Pink 15k. I’m not sure if I’ll do this or not. It’s full online, so I’d have to go and sign up at the race. I have a ten mile training run on the books for that day, and part of me thinks I should just practice a solitary single run, while the other part of me thinks it would be so much more enjoyable to go run with other people. I could just throw in an extra mile before or after to hit the 10 miles scheduled.
October 28th: Florida Halloween Halfathon & 5k.
I am so excited about this race. There is a 5k, but I’m going to run the half marathon. The medals are awesome,
but more importantly I’m dressing up! This will be my first run where I dress in costume, and I’m shooting for the stars with this one. I’ve got big plans and goals that include winning the costume contest. I’ll share about that in the weeks to come.
If you’re looking for a race, come do this one with me! There is a 5k that also is costume-based, and it would be so fun to get a big group out there (the 5k is $35 and the Half is $75 until October 24th)!
November 10th: Pretty Muddy Tampa. I am super excited but also super nervous about this race. It’s billed as an entry level mud run. It’s only 5k in distance, so it’s not the difficulty level that I’m concerned about. It’s the mud. I’m so prone to tripping a falling that I’m afraid I’m going to slip and hurt myself. I guess I’ll just be really careful.
What has relaxed my fears some is their photo gallery on Pinterest. It’s been fun to see what some of the obstacles are going to be to ease my nerves a little bit.
November 18th (Possibility): Women’s Half Marathon St. Petersburg. I have a lot of miles on my schedule that day, so it will definitely be a training run if I do it, and I will have to do more miles before or after. I’m seriously thinking about this one because I know a bunch of people doing it and I was registered to do it last year but hurt myself and couldn’t do it.
December 4th: Florida Holiday Halfathon. I have an 18 miler on the books for that day I believe (or maybe longer), so this will be a nice tack on to a super long run for me.
