On Saturday night, Tim and I went with two friends to Shula’s Steakhouse at the Intercontinental Hotel. We had so much fun, and the food was delicious. It was a bit on the expensive side, but it was a three hour experience and we had not one complaint.
The hostess walked us to the table while telling us the history of the restaurant and the fact that it was named in honor of Don Shula’s undefeated season at the Miami Dolphins. The steak menu was even presented on a football.
The servers came around and brought the cuts of meat on a tray and explained to us the cutting process and how their steaks were certified above USDA Prime. It was intense. I got a tomato and gorgonzola salad to start and then a filet mignon as my dinner. As a table we shared some absolutely amazing sides, including creamed spinach, potato pancake, crab macaroni and cheese, and lobster mashed potatoes. The creamed spinach was the most delicious thing that I had. It was so creamy and tasty, but the richness didn’t overpower the taste of the spinach (which I love).
For dessert, we shared the largest creme brulee I’ve ever seen, and then, three hours after sitting down, didn’t think of heading anywhere afterwards except home and to bed. We had so much fun and so much to eat, and I look forward to having another elegant dining out experience like this (but not for a little while).
I hope you had a lovely weekend. Aside from the Saturday night experience, I had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. I got to play around with photoshop a lot, catch up on blog reading after a busy week, and get some chores done around the house. I hope your weekend was equally as lovely.
Did you do anything special? What’s a culinary experience you’ve had that you’ll never forget?
